Privacy Policy — Smart Dictionary
Last updated: 3 August 2026
This privacy policy describes how powerapps.ai ("we", "us", "our")
handles information when you use the Smart Dictionary (Fancy Dict)
mobile and web application (package / bundle id org.powerapp.vocab, the "App").
1. Who we are
Developer / publisher: powerapps.ai
App name (store listing): Smart Dictionary / Fancy Dict
Package id: org.powerapp.vocab
Contact e-mail: leovu2022@gmail.com
We are the data controller for the limited data the App collects. Google (Firebase, AdMob, Play Billing, on-device ML Kit where used, and cloud AI where used), Apple (App Store billing, Vision where used), and similar platform providers act as data processors for the services they provide.
2. What stays on your device
- Photos you capture or select for on-device OCR word detection
- Saved vocabulary entries (word, explanation, IPA, flags, optional image previews)
- App preferences (language, notification and widget settings)
We do not operate backend servers that receive or permanently store your camera roll for our own use. When you sign in, your vocabulary library may sync to Firebase Firestore under your account so you can restore it across devices.
3. Information we access or collect
3.1 Photos and on-device OCR
When you look up words from a photo, the App processes the image you choose using on-device OCR where available. That image is used to detect tap targets and explain selected words. We do not upload your full photo library to our own servers for storage or advertising.
3.2 Account and cloud sync
If you sign in with Google, Apple, or continue as a guest (anonymous Firebase Auth), the App
may store a profile stub and your vocabulary payload under
users/{uid}/vocab/data in Firebase Firestore so your My Words library can sync.
You can sign out or delete your account from Settings where available.
3.3 Anonymous usage analytics — Firebase Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used and to improve the App. It may collect:
- Anonymous app instance identifiers
- Device and OS version
- Feature usage events (for example tab opens), not the full text of your word list
3.4 Crash reporting — Firebase Crashlytics
Firebase Crashlytics collects crash stack traces, device model, and OS version so we can fix bugs. We configure it so reports should not include your photos or full vocabulary content.
3.5 Advertising — Google AdMob
Free users may see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising ID, approximate location from IP, device info, and ad interaction events. Google’s ad policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Where required (for example EEA/UK), the App may show a consent form and a “Manage privacy choices” entry in Settings. Your photos and vocabulary content are not used for ads.
3.6 Cloud AI word lookups
Optional AI explanations may send the selected word and language context to a cloud AI provider (such as Google Gemini). We do not use that content to build advertising profiles, and we do not store it on our own servers beyond what the provider requires to fulfill the request. Full camera-roll photos are not sent for text lookups unless a feature explicitly requires an image and you choose to use it.
3.7 In-app purchases and subscriptions
Optional Pro / subscription purchases are processed by Google Play Billing or the Apple App Store. We never see your card details — only a receipt or purchase token to unlock features.
3.8 Remote configuration
The App may fetch non-personal configuration from Firebase Remote Config (for example the privacy policy URL, ad frequency, or feature flags). That does not include your photos or word lists.
4. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Ads, analytics, subscriptions, optional cloud AI / sync / Remote Config |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Avoid unnecessary network calls when offline |
| Camera / photo library (system picker) | Capture or select photos for OCR word learning |
| Notifications (if enabled) | Optional vocabulary reminders you allow |
5. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly process data from children. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will assist.
6. Where data is processed
Firebase, AdMob, Play Billing, App Store, on-device platform frameworks, and optional cloud AI services process data in regions where their providers operate, subject to their data protection terms (Firebase data processing terms).
7. How long we keep data
- Firebase Analytics: default 14-month retention, then aggregated.
- Crashlytics: default 90 days for individual crash reports.
- AdMob: per Google's ad data policies.
- On-device photos and vocabulary: until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Cloud-synced vocabulary: until you delete entries or delete your account.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) you may have rights to access, delete, object to advertising processing, or withdraw consent. Contact us at the e-mail below. You can also:
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in device settings
- Revoke camera / photo library permissions in system Settings
- Uninstall the App
- Use in-app Settings to manage ad consent where available
- Sign out or delete your account where available
9. Security
Network traffic uses HTTPS. We do not store your camera-roll photos on our own servers for advertising or resale.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and update the “Last updated” date. Substantial changes may also appear in App release notes.
